To start planning your career, we need to know where you are against the dream role you are looking to land.
To do this, we recommend that you undertake a skills mapping exercise to assess your qualifications, skills and experience against those being requested in current live jobs.
The exercise doesn't take long, but it would be good if you were somewhere where you have a little time to yourself to concentrate. What's 20 minutes if you land a job you love in an industry supporting the clean energy transition. 🤷♀️
#1 Find Live Jobs
Find a role, or roles, that you are interested in.
If you need help with this, check out our Nuclear Job Boards Directory and have a look around.
If you have no clue what roles are available to you in the nuclear sector, visitor our Types of Jobs pages first before finding any job advertisements.
#2 List the skills
From the live job advertisements you are interested in, list the requirements detailed, including mandatory and those listed as 'preferred'.
#3 Skills Map
Cross-reference your qualifications, skills and experience against those listed in #2 above.
#4 The Starting Line
Use the above to identify yourself as one of the 5 five categories of job seekers we work with. The simplest way to do this is to ask yourself:
Do I have the qualifications and skills listed on the job descriptions?
Have I gained relevant experience working in the nuclear industry?
Have I gained relevant experience working in another industry?
Am I at the start of a brand new career journey?
If you can answer the first two questions, "yes", you are a Nuclear Worker.
If you answer 1 and 3 as "Yes", you are a Sector Jumper
If you answer "No" for 1 but "Yes" for 2, you are a Career Builder.
If you answer "No" for 1 and "Yes" for 3, you are looking for a Career Change.
If you answer "No" to all but 4, you are a Career Starter.
Now that you have completed a skills map on yourself, you can continue to the Career Hub and follow our roadmap to getting into nuclear.
