Would you like to interact with a wide range of projects and domains in engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Hull, Naval Architecture, Radiation Physics? BAES currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer (Information Management and Toolsets) at their site in Barrow.
As a Senior Engineer (Information Management and Toolsets), you will be supporting and engaging in the full lifecycle for development of processes and toolsets, undertaking tasks such as basic stakeholder management, business analysis, problem solving and requirement definition.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to understand and apply the Quality and HS&E Management System documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules, control measures and security policies.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer (Information Management and Toolsets) would involve:
Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to meet their requirements, including one to one liaison, setting expectations
Developing processes, toolsets and Information Architecture in line with Functions requirements
Demonstrating Problem Analysis/Problem Solving methodologies
Coordinating and delivering Engineering activities/projects aligning to the preferred methodology
Contributing to the mentoring, coaching, tasking and leading of teams, where applicable
Supporting/facilitating activities in line with Engineering business objectives/strategic direction
Benchmarking and reviewing improved ways of working within Engineering
Skills and Qualifications
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Engineer (Information Management and Toolsets):
Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience (e.g HNC /Foundation Degree/ Engineering Degree)
Demonstrable experience in managing suppliers/customers/key stakeholders
Strong management experience
Experience within an IT background
Understanding of Design Software and Analysis tools e.g. FORAN, MatLab, Solidworks, Abaqus

Get Into Nuclear
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is currently working with IT who is live close-by or is willing to relocate to Barrow-in-Furnace. The above shows that nuclear specific experience is not required whatsoever for this role. It must however be noted that strong vetting requirements will be applicable.

#1 Know who you are: have an IT background with knowledge of design software and analysis tools. You are a strong communicator who can converse with stakeholders at all levels and you have demonstrable management and leadership skills.
