Why Visit The Nuclear Training Network

Updated: Dec 3, 2022

The online learning site was launched to 2014 with the specific aim of providing high quality training and learning resources to the nuclear industry.

The Nuclear Training Network (NTN) is the Skills Academy’s On-Line Learning Portal as part of the Skills Academy’s National Nuclear Gateway Project.

The NTN not only hosts courses developed by the Skills Academy, it also enables member employers and providers who are part of the Skills Academy’s High Quality Provider Network to upload training and learning materials for access by learners across the UK and Internationally.

This sharing of resources enables the NTN to become a one stop shop for on-line learning courses and materials for the nuclear industry.

As a starting point the NTN hosts The Triple Bar Nuclear New Build Sites training course, which is offered free of charge for interested learners (exam fee applies), as well as the Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness and Triple Bar Existing Sites courses.

Further learning resources include;

- Introduction To Nuclear Site Licence and Licence Conditions

- Nuclear Site Licence Compliance for Licensee Employees

- Nuclear Site Licence Compliance for Supply Chain Companies

- Nuclear Cyber Security General Awareness

- and many more...

Jean Llewellyn OBE, Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy Nuclear commented;

“The NTN will provide a pivotal opportunity to provide learning material for transformational skills growth across the nuclear industry. The portal will provide industry with a vehicle for the sharing of learning resources and best practice.
The distance learning option is essential to have on offer for learners who need flexibility and may wish to upskill around working hours or family commitments etc. The NTN will enable people to increase their knowledge and gain the skills and knowledge they need for their career in nuclear whilst enabling them to learn whenever it best suits their time frame.”

Mike Mulvihill Managing Director of eOrigen Learning and Communications commented:

“Already with over 1,000 users since its recent launch the Nuclear Training Network is the first UK/global nuclear industry training and networking portal for innovative learning, knowledge sharing and skills development. It is focussed on the growing global nuclear learning and development requirements and is the first digital learning and professional networking hub for all industry employees and employers.
The web site is free to access and browse and should attract users worldwide. It will offer the option to login and sign up to learning, training services and products and in doing so establish a global subscriber base. We believe the subscriber base should significantly grow as the global new build programme gathers momentum and the workforce increases not just in nuclear but also in other related industries.”
