We'll cut to the chase; when we are asked this question, 99% of the time, the real question is, "what are the vetting requirements" and "can I use my current qualifications".

The short answer is that, yes, we have helped numerous individuals join the nuclear industry when moving from abroad. However, most cases are unique to the person's current circumstances.

The vetting requirements for a job in the nuclear industry in the UK can vary depending on the position and employer. However, many employers in this industry will require some level of security clearance or background check as part of the hiring process. This is because the nuclear industry is considered to be a sensitive area, with strict security requirements to protect against potential security risks and threats.

For example, some positions may require baseline personnel security standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves a basic background check that includes identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks.

Other positions may require a more extensive security clearance, such as security check (SC) or developed vetting (DV), which can involve interviews, financial checks, and checks of family and personal relationships.

In addition to security clearance, some positions in the nuclear industry may also require specific qualifications or certifications related to radiation protection, health and safety, and other areas of expertise.

It's important to carefully review the job description and requirements for each position you're interested in to ensure that you meet the necessary qualifications and security clearance requirements.
